From the city walls, Dubrovnik can be seen from above in all its beauty.
The colourful orange-ish roofs, the blue beautiful sea and the green island of Lokrum makes the view amazing.

The last ship from Lokrum leaves at 8pm, people cannot stay on the island after that time.
Knowing at which time the sun would set, I took the 7.30pm boat to get back to the old port.
I expected to see a sunset, but I would have never thought it would be so spectacular from the boat.
The people, with their boats, sailing and fishing only made it more amazing.
This is still inside the Fort Royal; being there I got the impression of being in one of those adventure videogames: the ruins and the vegetation are just amazing.
The island of Lokrum has not only beautiful coasts and buildings; it is also home of several peafowls (around 3/4 peacocks and a dozen of peahens and young peafowls).
During my stay on the island I spent a lot of time quietly following some of them, I really like their vibrant colours; especially the metallic blue plumage of the neck.
Unfortunately, I haven’t had the chance to see their tail train fully displayed.
After having postponed this trip for quite some time, I finally went to visit the Island of Lokrum. This island sits right in front of the Old Port of Dubrovnik and has a very strong impact on the landscape.
To get to the island, you need to get a ticket for a boat that leaves every 30 min from the Old Port and the trip is around 15 min.
As the island has plenty of areas and places to visit, I will split this trip into several posts, coming the next days.

Island of Lokrum
This afternoon I decided to pay a visit to the Museum of Modern Art in Dubrovnik for Steve McCurry’s exhibition; many people might not know him by his name, but one of his pictures, named ‘Afghani girl’, appeared on National Geographic, gave him a fame that surely precedes him (google it, it is worth it).
The exhibition is incredible, probably one of the best I have been so far, concerning photography. His technique is impressive; he can really transmit strong feelings with his photos, which mostly involve portraits of people from distant countries. Continue Reading
As promised here is an update with, finally, some pictures.
With today I would like to start posting pictures everyday; I know it could be a hard job, but who said it would be easy?
In each post I will also add a description, just to give the picture a clearer context. It is supposed to be some sort of photo-documentary of the places I go.
The posts will be shorter, but more frequent; hopefully my Internet connection will allow me to do so.
I start this project with my visit to the Ploče Gate (Vrata od Ploča), the Eastern entrance to the Old Town (Grad). It is very close to where I live and it is one of the two main entrances to the Grad.
In the past, the draw bridge was used to be pulled up at night to prevent the passage of ‘uninvited’ visitors. Continue Reading
