Hey pals, here is my first Image of the Day post from Kampala (Uganda). These are very simple images that can still show quite a bit of the area in which I’m currently living. The whole area is called Kinawataka (Ki is read ‘Chi’) and specifically in Kireka. My accommodation is located in the Kireka part, very close to the slums.
The slums are crossed by a railroad which is usually very crowded with people, as it is the fastest and safest (the train goes really slow) to get from one side of the town to the other.
They can be dangerous at night, but when it is day and crowded, it is kind of safe to walk through them. In fact, kids and people even pass and say hi.
