Here I am,
on a train that will eventually bring me to Luleå (Sweden).
I have left Göteborg on a very cold Friday and stayed a few days in Gävle.
This is finally my trip for trying to catch a glance of the amazing and colourful Norrsken. The forecast is against me and my plans, but I keep hoping.
My first part of the trip was very enjoyable and I managed to see the famous gigantic goat in the center of Gävle. Apparently people often try to burn it down.
My host there brought me to see the town from a hill, covered in snow. Amazing view.
Umeå has also been a very pleasant experience. We have cooked and eaten so many different dishes from all over the world: from açorda from Portugal to a spicy paste from Tanzania, passing by aw(ful)esome Swedish salty gorilla candies (they still give me the chill). The town centre with its small and cute Christmas market was very welcoming, even at -10°C.
Now I’m getting closer and closer to the Polar circle and increasing my chances to spot some Northern lights.
For the moment I just look outside the window of the train and lose myself to the view of this frozen landscape and yet, surprinsingly, it only warms me up.
Peace.
